Editorial policy

United Conversation aims to make its explanations clear, fair and worth relying on. We distinguish what a piece describes from what it recommends, and treat conversational habits as choices whose usefulness depends on context.

Accuracy and clarity

We check claims against suitable available material and avoid presenting an illustration or general observation as proof of a universal rule. Where interpretations differ, we make the distinction visible. We use specific language, explain relevant terms and avoid overstating what a conversational technique can do.

Independence

Editorial decisions are made for the reader's understanding of the subject. A commercial relationship does not buy a favourable conclusion or editorial control. Where a relationship could matter to a piece or placement, we identify it clearly so readers can understand the context.

Corrections

If you notice an error, use the Contact page to tell us what is wrong and where it appears. We review correction requests, amend material when warranted and make significant corrections clear to readers. We do not promise to accept every suggested change, but we do take substantiated concerns seriously.

Partner material

Paid or partner material is labelled so it can be distinguished from editorial work. Partner placements do not imply that United Conversation endorses a product, service or viewpoint. We do not let a partner's preferred wording obscure the nature of a commercial placement.

Our point of view

Good conversation leaves room

A useful exchange is not a performance or a race to agree. It gives each person room to finish a thought and respond to what was actually said.
